Still Have Questions? See FAQs below.
Q: How do I achieve a Tight Installation on the Maxi-Cosi Emme 360?
A: As with all car seats, to check for a tight fit using the “no more than 1 inch of wiggle” rule you should only be wiggling the car seat from the area closest to the blue belt path. Any other area of the seat will have more wiggle with the seat properly installed.
Q: How do I adjust the position of the Crotch Buckle on the Maxi-Cosi Emme 360
A: When adjusting the crotch buckle to a different location we recommend turning the buckle side facing and moving it along the H track to the desired location. Once you are at the desired slot, turn it back to front facing and ensure it is secured in the desired buckle location.
Q: How do I achieve proper Belt Tension on the Maxi-Cosi Emme 360?
A: The red/green indicator system in the base has been carefully designed and validated to ensure you’ve achieved sufficient belt tension for a safe installation. This may seem tighter than you are used to if you have installed other car seats. If it is still red, we recommend you continue to remove slack and increase the tension of the vehicle belt.
Q: How do I install the Maxi-Cosi Emme 360 using the Vehicle Latch?
A: If you have chosen to use the vehicle LATCH, please note that this car seat requires you to switch to the vehicle belt installation when your child reaches 30 lbs. If your child is under 30 lbs and you are using the LATCH installation method and you are struggling to achieve green on the tension indicators. In certain vehicles, you may find you have to guide the plastic adjuster on the LATCH webbing to allow it to be in the blue belt path opening. If you are still unable to achieve green, we recommend moving to the vehicle belt for your installation.
Q: How do I Loosen the Harness on the Maxi-Cosi Emme 360?
A: The harness covers are in integral part of the car seats crash performance and are connected to the seat back. When loosening the harness we recommend pulling at or around the chest clip area, not the harness covers. This may be different than other car seats you have owned in the past.
Q: How do I tighten the Harness on the Maxi-Cosi Emme 360?
A: When tensioning the harness, if the chest clip is too high it may run into the harness pads making it more difficult to tighten the harness properly. If you experience this, move the chest clip down to allow more space for the webbing to flow into the seat back. Doing so will allow easier tensioning of the harness. Also remember to adjust the chest clip back to armpit level on your child when you are done.
Q: How can I rotate the Maxi-Cosi Emme 360 Car Seat?
A: The car seat must be fully reclined in position 5 BEFORE rotating it to forward-facing position. You must squeeze the rotation handle on the front of the base to rotate the seat. The Rotation Lock Indicator will show the locked symbol when the car seat is locked in place.
Q: Can I remove the fabric components for cleaning?
A: Yes. The seat pad, headrest pad, top harness covers, toddler pad (if applicable), wedge pillow, and body pillow can all be removed for cleaning.
Q: How should I clean the fabric components?
A: Top harness covers: machine wash.
Car seat pad, headrest pad: must be turned inside out before machine washing. Machine wash separately with cold water on gentle cycle. Do not use bleach. Tumble dry separately for 10–12 minutes on low heat and remove immediately.
Wedge pillow and body pillow: Remove wedge from the pocket on the back of pillow prior to machine washing.
Q: Can I remove the cup holders and are they dishwasher-safe?
A: Yes, the cup holders are top-rack dishwasher-safe. To remove, twist the cup holder counterclockwise and pull it out of the slot in the car seat. For parts availability and questions, call or text 1-812-652-2525.
Q: How do I release the magnetic chest clip?
A: To release the magnetic chest clip, firmly push the top and bottom buttons at the same time.
Q: How can I change the headrest height and how do I know if it is at the correct height for my child?
A: Begin by fully loosening the harness straps. To do this, push down on the harness release lever (through the opening in the pad) while pulling at or below the harness covers. Next, adjust the headrest/harness height by squeezing the adjustment handle lever upwards. Move the headrest up or down to the proper height and release the handle to lock in place and make sure it is locked securely.
In rear-facing mode, the top of your child’s head MUST be at least 1 inch below the top of the car seat’s headrest and the harness strap MUST be at or slightly below the shoulders––never above. In forward-facing mode, the tops of your child’s ears MUST be below the top of the car seat’s headrest. The harness strap MUST be at or slightly above the shoulders––never below.
Q: How can I change the recline modes and when should I be doing this?
A: To recline, squeeze the recline handle and push the top of the car seat back.
In rear-facing mode, 5= Fully Reclined and 2–4= Semi-Reclined. For children who cannot sit up unassisted, the rear-facing level line on the car seat MUST be parallel with the ground using positions 2–5. For children who can sit up unassisted, you may make the car seat more upright starting from the fully reclined position 5 and adjusting to more upright positions 4–2. DO NOT use position 1 for rear-facing mode.
In forward-facing mode, 1 = Fully Upright. In booster seat mode, 1 = Fully Upright.
Q: Do I have to manually rethread the harness?
A: No. This car seat features a no-rethread harness where the headrest and harness adjust while raising or lowering the headrest.
Q: Should I use the tethers?
A: When top tether anchors are available, you MUST ALWAYS attach, adjust, and secure the tether strap when installing the car seat in all modes. Top tethers improve the installation and stability of car seats and reduce the risk of injury.
Q: Where should I keep the car seat manual?
A: We suggest storing your instruction manual in a place you won’t forget. Should you lose it, you can always visit our website and download a copy of the instruction manual.
Q: Can I install the seat on either side of the car?
A: Yes, the car seat rotates 360° to enable installation on either side of the car.
Q: Can I install the seat in the center seat position of the back seat?
A: Consult your vehicle owner’s manual to see if they allow car seat installation in the middle seating position OR contact Dorel Juvenile Group Consumer Care Department.
Q: How big should my child be before removing the harness and using the belt positioning booster mode?
A: The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that children use a car seat until they reach the maximum height or weight for the 5-point harness, before transitioning them to booster mode. For this car seat, the maximum height for forward-facing mode is 49” and the maximum weight is 65 lbs.
Q: Where does the vehicle seat belt go in booster mode?
A: The shoulder belt should lay snugly across the center of your child’s shoulder and across their chest. To position the lap belt on your child, route ONLY the lap belt portion of the vehicle belt through the Booster Seat Belt Path. The lap belt should lay snugly across your child’s hips (not on their stomach).
Q: Can I use an under seat pad with this car seat?
A: We do not recommend using a car seat protector.
Q: Why is there a connection cord and what does it do?
A: The attached connection cord ensures that the base and cord must be used together when installed. This car seat meets or exceeds all federal safety standards and is National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) compliant.
Q: I've just unboxed my Maxi-Cosi Emme 360 and it won't rotate. What could be causing this?
A: After you have unboxed your Emme 360, please make sure to have the tether strap un-tucked before trying to rotate it. If the tether strap is not untucked, it may get stuck and prevent the car seat from rotating.
